La Tasca’s ‘Unlimited Tapas for £10’ deal! (their best yet!)

I’ve been subscribed to La Tasca’s newsletter for some time now and have on occasion taken advantage of their 50% off deal, it’s spot on when there’s a big group of you looking for a cheap & cheerful catch up with tasty sharing dishes. However, I was really pleased when I saw the ‘All you can eat for £10’ offer for a Wednesday night, perfect as I had arranged to meet Kitty for a well overdue catch up, we prefer the one in the West End to the one in Omni, so dutifully printed off our vouchers (one required pp) and booked a table.

Although the restaurant is part of a National chain, something I would usually avoid like the plague, inside it’s got a great non ‘mass reproduction’ feel, the decor is bright and sunny even if the lighting is not. On arrival there seemed to be a change in the air, the staff were fast and friendly (something that has often been a problem on dining there before. We knew the menu would be slightly more limited but it covered all the essentials including some of our favourites and a bottle of the house red wine was only £10, bargain!

The red arrived and too busy ‘catching up’ we still hadn’t looked at the menu, after several return visits by the lovely, efficient waitress we decided we really needed to get the food sorted and for our first round quickly chose Calamares, Gambas, Chicken Croquettes, Chorizo in red wine, Mushrooms in wine & garlic and Patatas Bravas.

Round 1 of our Tapas

They are all great but the chicken croquettes in particular are delicious, so much so that when we’d polished that little lot off we promptly ordered some more, along with more Chorizo and a Chicken dish with mushrooms, white wine & sherry sauce. Our eyes were bigger than our bellies it has to be said and even the 2nd bottle of red couldn’t give us the energy to clear our dishes of the last few morsels.

It’s fair to say we were pretty content, we feasted to bursting and had a couple of bottles of very serviceable red to wash everything down and all for £20 per head! Now the confession, the same deal landed in my inbox again this week so I went and did it all again with AVM, brilliant value for money and I’m delighted to say the staff & service are greatly improved from previous visits 12+ months ago.

I would highly recommend registering your email address for their offers as they usually have 2/3 running at any one time and can be very good value for money. I’d also recommend reading the small print as sometimes it requires every diner to have a voucher to be valid.

La Tasca9 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AS. Tel: 0131 220 0011

My good friend JB and I paid a visit to La Tasca, Charlotte Square (with trepidation on my part as my last visit involved being drenched in red wine!) however it was unfounded. Prompt service, delicious food, good pricing and clean facilities contributed to the 8 forks out of ten score we awarded this branch. A point to note: La Tasca seem to run several offers at any one time (you need to sign up online) and it is worthwhile to read the small print- the voucher we had on our visit didnt apply but if you can get the “all you can eat for a tenner” voucher then you are onto a real  winner. Buen apetito! AVMx
