Chef’s £10 lunch for 2 at Tapa, Hanover Street

As I was having supper in The Dogs a couple of weeks ago, I glanced across the road and was delighted to see Tapa have now opened a city centre venue. I dined in their lovely restaurant on the Shore last Autumn and fully intended blogging it, however the free-flowing wine and good company sort of got in the way, so here’s my 2nd stab at it!

Chef's £10 Tapas Lunch Selection

I was meeting @WRPT for a cheeky, cheap & cheerful lunch this week and had spotted the £10 Chef’s selection of 7 Tapas, seemed a little too good to be true but worth a punt! On entering the restaurant, I was welcomed, allowed to choose a table and menus and bread & oil brought over, a drink order taken, all with casual efficiency!

There’s no mistaking the genre of restaurant we were in, sunny colours, bright water jugs, Mediterranean waiters and Spanish music. The menu is quite interesting, standard Tapas fare rubbing shoulders with some very interesting sounding dishes, prices ranging from £3-£7. Although I remembered how good the dishes were from my last visit, it was the £10 lunch that we were road-testing!

Today’s, Chef selection included (very) Spicy Patatas Bravas, Tortilla Espanola, Meatballs, Calamares, Berenjenas con Miel (Aubergine crisps in Honey), Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables and a mixed Salad. It all arrived on one big plate, which seems to be the fashion of the moment and to be fair does make it easier for all, from diner to dish washer!

The verdict, exceptional value for money, including soft drinks and coffees the bill was less than £17.00! A welcome addition to the city centre and another great cheap lunch option to compete with The Dogs and 99 Hanover Street’s offerings!
