Where I’ve been pigging out in recent weeks (Part 1) – yes, really!

I seem to have been eating out so much recently and caught up in the pre-Xmas chaos that I’ve had little time to write things up. So for ease I thought I’d share some pictures of my recent greedy exploits.

I’m ashamed to say that there are actually so many that I’m going to have to split it into 2 posts!

Bon appetit!

Circle Cafe, A great stop off en route along the water of Leith, this steak burger (followed by an enormous piece of raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake) was the perfect pick-me-up after a little over-indulgence the night before!

A wee business trip down to Northampton saw us dining in the Thai Emerald Restaurant in the town centre, not only was the decor stunning (a converted church with enormous mosaic elephants and inlaid tables) but the food was colourful and creative, a visual feast as well as a literal one. Hopefully I’ll be making a return visit soon.

A wee trip up to The Highlands saw us staying the stunning Pierhouse, a beautiful loch-side hotel famed for it’s fresh local produce and seafood. Also awarded the title of Scotland’s most romantic restaurant 2011, it didn’t disappoint and although I was unable to have the shellfish myself, Science made the most of it. My venison was delicious and the breakfast, one of the best I’ve ever had, all with a glorious view. Needless to say the walk in Glencoe the next day was much needed!

After a few aborted attempts AVM and I finally managed a wee catch up in Kasturi, a recent-ish addition to Shandwick Place. Exemplary service, very reasonably priced wines and tasty, non fussy Indian fare. We went for the set meal option which was a robust affair that I didn’t manage to conquer. AVM with her usual gusto managed to cap it all off with dessert!

Surfpunk mentioned the steak at The Honours and as you know, I need little encouragement so fait accompli, off went! oh yeah…..

A long overdue lunch with an old client (old as in of long acquaintance rather than of age) saw him taking me unwittingly to L’escargot Blanc, sister restaurant to L’escargot Bleu, an old favourite of mine. What can I say, the same Gallic charm, the same AMAZING aromas and on the list for a return visit, a really good lunch price of £10.90 for 2 courses
