Michelin Chef Jeremy Wares Hosts Charity dinner for Parkinsons – 8th Nov

Hmmm,  I can’t wait for this –  a cocktails & oysters reception (I can look at the oysters even if I can’t eat them!) followed by a 4 course meal paired with wines, each cooked by a top chef – one for serious foodies!

Jeremy Wares at Houston House Hotel

As one of the youngest individuals in Scotland to be diagnosed with Parkinson’s, 39-year-old chef Jeremy Wares is set to raise awareness of the degenerative condition by hosting a charity dinner on 8 November at his new fine dining restaurant experience, Jeremy Wares at Houstoun House, a new restaurant venture in partnership with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.

The award-winning Master Chef of Great Britain, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at just 36 and has cooked for the likes of the late Princess Diana, President Mitterrand, Michael Caine and Liam Neeson, has teamed up with Wobbly Williams, a charity that aims to bring a positive attitude to people diagnosed with the condition.

The gourmet evening, hosted at Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel in Uphall is set to feature a cocktail and oyster reception followed by a four course meal with paired fine wines. Each course will be cooked by a different top chef, with acclaimed chef Bryan Webb confirmed as attending. Tickets cost £90 per person or £800 for a table of ten.

Jeremy Wares commented: “My success has come in the face of adversity, but I am undeterred and determined to fully realise my ambitions in the kitchen through this restaurant venture with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts. My condition means that while I can’t put in the 16-hour days, I don’t have to hang up my chef’s hat. Life can and does go on – and this is why I have created this fundraising dinner.”

He added: “Jeremy Wares at Houstoun House is a tremendous opportunity to further indulge my passion for cooking delicious dishes in a bustling restaurant environment. We are now working hard to make Jeremy Wares at Houstoun House a truly leading culinary destination in Scotland.”

Offering locally sourced cuisine with a modern twist, all dishes at Jeremy Wares at Houstoun House, across the Group, are based on only the finest freshest and where possible locally sourced produce, always prepared from whole raw ingredients.

Diners can enjoy gastronomic delights such as freshly caught scallops in red wine risotto, with tomato pesto; roast haunch of venison and stalker pie with sticky red cabbage, and his special take on the traditional Scottish dessert cranachan.

Jeremy Wares at Houstoun House, just two minutes from the M8 motorway, is located within the beautiful interior of Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel that dates back to the 16th century and once hosted Mary Queen of Scots.
