Jeremy Wares charity dinner – what did we eat?!

As many of you will know I was quite excited to have been invited to a charity dinner at Houston House Hotel hosted by Michelin chef Jeremy Wares to raise money for Parkinsons Disease.

Jeremy Wares suffers from Parkinsons and opened a restaurant at (the rather lovely) Houston House earlier in the year and came together with Wobbly Williams, a charity that raises awareness of the condition and funds for research into the causes, treatment and cure of Parkinson’s Disease, for this event.

It was not a disappointment, a lovely venue, great food, good company and some slightly off the wall entertainment, not to mention an amazing magician! With the event raising the best part of £15k on the night with a final total from ticket sales etc still to be tallied up! (sadly I didn’t win the trip to Dubai in the raffle or the butchery class  in the silent auction but a top night!).

Here are a few pics for your delight & delectation:

Macdonald Houston House – Let’s eat!

The dining room at Houston House was beautifully set out, the centrepieces were especially pretty!

crispy pork rillette, sweet glazed beetroot, truffled goats cheese cream, pickled mushroom & chestnut puree

This was delicious, everyone else on the table seemed to be quite restrained but myself and Laura, beside me, wolfed ours down as if we’d not eaten all day! Chefs responsible: George McIvor from The Full Range and Andrew Wilkie

Pressing of flaked hot smoked Scottish salmon, crayfish, hand-picked crab, cherry tomato & radish salad wit a saffron aioli

After proclaiming this dish ‘too beautiful to eat’ I then discovered it had shellfish in it so I got my wish to simply sit back and admire the artistry. Chef responsible: John Paul from the Macdonald Marine

Trio of Perthshire game, seasonal vegetables & game jus

This dish was right up my street, meaty, gamey, and the smell was amazing, the sort of dish that gives you a big cosy hug on a cold day. Chefs responsible: David Murray & Jeremy Wares from Macdonald Houston House

& this 'piece de resistance' had us all 'mouing' with pleasure as we polished it off without ado. Chef responsible: Peter Backhouse from Loch Levens Larder.

All of this was accompanied by a selection of matched white, red and dessert wines and was then followed off with a super cheeseboard and coffee! I was too busy munching to take a photo but it was great!

& a big thank you to 3×1 who so kindly invited me
