Ants on Toast for Tea anyone…?

I had to laugh when I spotted a friend’s recent facebook update about a recipe book used by her family when she was wee – the comical bit was the fact that they have a recipe using Ants (yes the little black crawly things) and not only that but also tips on the best places and times to catch this delicacy!

Thanks ‘T’ for sending over, and after reading the intriguing last sentence  a couple paras up, “Butter the toast and place a bird on each piece. Serve plain or with a little pan gravy.” I’ve actually just bought myself a copy – think it’ll be the most entertaining £2.81 I’ve ever spent!

If anyone else also has the same twisted sense of curiosity – this is the book!

    Hi Nadine,

    Watch this “Inside Claridge’s: Episode 3” all about shipping ants from Denmark to London for the Noma pop-up restaurant during the olympics. Black Ants are obviously the culinary food of choice for those in know!
