City chic and country elegance at new Hopetoun House event Incorporating the hugely successful International Horse Trials, Hopetoun House will return to the event calendar for the third time this summer with the Town and Country Fair. Promising an exquisite mix of city chic with country living, set in the grounds of Scotland’s finest stately home, the event will take place between Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July.

As part of the new Hopetoun Town and Country Fair,  Hopetoun House will look to bring an elegant mixture of inter city living and country pursuits, perfect for ladies and gents looking to enjoy a weekend out.

Providing a showcase of some of Scotland’s finest food and drink, Hopetoun’s West Lawn will be home to the Lifestyle Shopping Village where visitors will have the chance to experience a multitude of award winning producers from across the country, as well as the homegrown taste of the Hopetoun Farm Shop who will be providing cheeses, fresh breads, chutneys and snacks.

The Village will also give visitors the chance to take a step out of the city to browse latest collections, with fashions from independent retailers, unique home accessories and fine art. The Craft Marquee will offer some of Scotland’s top designers featuring a range of unique and alternative gifts and crafts.

For those who love the outdoors, the outdoors activities area will see clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, archery, falconry as well as a host of entertainment for the kids including a treasure hunt, mini petting farm with Gorgie Farm and crafts making in the Hopetoun Activity Tent.  Commenting on the new event, Lord Hopetoun said: “We are delighted to be welcoming back a host of international stars for the main event. The new aspects of the Town and Country Fair will hope to bring together the essence of the city mixed with the delights of country pursuits we know so well at Hopetoun. The grounds are a spectacular spot for such a wonderful showcase of equestrian talent and the opportunity to sample some of Scotland’s finest food, drinks and luxury shopping whilst socialising with friends.”

Building on the exceptional triumph of 2012’s horse trials, 2013’s event will return with a mixture of international sporting stars and training novices looking to make their mark at an esteemed international occasion. Olympic Silver Team GB member Nicola Wilson as well as Edinburgh University graduate and 2016 Olympic hopeful, Charlotte Agnew are both set to compete.

Almost 250 riders are expected to compete over the two-day event which will see cross country, showjumping and dressage classes take part. With the support of Hopetoun, all showjumping will now take place on the West Lawn in front of Hopetoun House providing a stunning backdrop for spectators while the cross country will follow a similar route to the 2012 event which saw riders passing within meters of the House.
