Chef Jason Wright launches new Fish Restaurant in Edinburgh

Oooh, can’t wait to see this one – Jason’s a great guy and they always know how to create a lovely restaurant down at Picardy Place!  (or maybe it should be renamed Picardy Plaice – boom boom!) 


At the age of 28, Executive Head Chef Jason Wright is set to open his second restaurant Fish Eatery in the city following the success of his first renowned restaurant Steak at Picardy Place in Edinburgh.

Opening early next week, the 46 seated restaurant Fish Eatery and Skippers lounge bar next door to Steak at 12 Picardy Place will serve only the best of Scottish seafood at affordable prices from local suppliers.


Fish Eatery will be based next door to the flagship restaurant Steak and below Twelve Picardy Place boutique Hotel, all centrally located in a Georgian townhouse featuring individually styled luxury bedrooms.

Jason Wright is already known locally for serving the best steak in town. He has refined the menus at Steak to absolute perfection with prime Scottish succulent steak accompanied by fabulous sauces a great range of delicious sides and meticulously selected wines. Following on from the huge success of Steak at 14 Picardy Place, Jason was always keen to open another restaurant specialising in something completely different. Jason has a love for all things fish as much as he does steak so it was the next natural step for him. Here he will focus on serving high quality fresh Scottish fish which will be at the heart of the menu.


Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through to Saturday from 12 noon until 11pm. Fish Eatery’s menu will feature dishes such as citrus lemon sole, fish stew, halibut kiev and chicken and lobster macaroni for mains with a wide selection of starters and desserts too, as well as an early tea time menu available until 6.30pm. All of the fish will be sourced from Scottish fishmonger Gary Welch offering the best fish, shellfish and seafood in Scotland.

Opening a restaurant specialising in Fish was always a dream of Jason’s. He comments ahead of its opening; “I am so excited about opening Fish Eatery especially after the amazing response and success we have had with Steak. It was the next natural step for me and my team and opening another restaurant is something I’ve always wanted to do and now is the right time to do it.  I’m ready and up for the challenge.”
