Hendrick’s Gin Bus Tour – A Gloriously Quirky Festival ‘MUST’

Last night we took a trip on HERBERT – Hendrick’s Extraordinary Roving Bus of Exceptionally Refined Travel courtesy of Hendrick’s Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but the invitation piqued my curiosity and oh my, what a brilliant experience.

Hendricks Gin Bus arrives in Edinburgh. A delightfully unusual Hendrick’s Gin bus called H.E.R.B.E.R.T. has arrived in Edinburgh today, and will be taking passengers on a whimsical tour of the city between 8th and 14th August. Max (beard) and Nick will be welcoming guests and entertaining them as they tour the city. 8th August 2016

We met at Bramble for a cheeky H&T (Hendrick’s & Tonic) before boarding HERBERT – an old fashioned double decker bus gloriously painted like a cucumber on the exterior whilst the interior was laid out for travelling in style.

This was a sightseeing bus tour like no other – our hosts were exceptionally knowledgeable about Edinburgh’s long history of cucumber farming as well as etiquette, carrying a copy of Debretts and some curious poetry in their small but perfectly formed library.

We were plied with more H&T, cucumber sandwiches and cucumber macaroons while we were mightily entertained by our hosts. They could give some of the stand-ups a run for their money. My only regret was when it finished. I’d love to travel like this every day.

If there’s one thing you do between now and the 14th August – please catch a trip on HERBERT, it’s quirky, gloriously bonkers some may say, very funny and ridiculously good value – tickets cost just an admin fee of £2.50 and the cocktails are included.

Where else will HERBERT be on tour? Where can you buy tickets?
Is the bus available to hire for an event?

I really hope so Wendy, it was such fun, however, haven’t heard anything yet. I just checked their website and there’s nothing there at the moment, there’s a good chance though it was really popular last year, I know loads of people that just couldn’t get tickets – everything crossed 🙂
