Maison Bleue (oh mon dieu!)

To summarise, a lovely quirky interior, a really tasty sounding menu and excellent service but I don’t recommend you go on a Sunday! Such a shame that it turned out to be such an expensive disappointment! I’d love to hear from anyone that’s eaten there when the normal Chef is on though as it’s certainly not something I would risk again on the strength of our experience.

Wine Tasting Dinner at La Garrigue in the New Town

Although the dishes were well presented and had elements that excited and should have worked well, each course left me feeling a little disappointed. There were textures and flavours that seemed to be at odds at times with my unsophisticated pallate, it was almost as though they had been trying too hard and over complicated things. There was never, throughout any of the courses that ‘wow, this is delicious’ moment, my favourite things were the little cheese pastries that we were given at the start before the menu began.
