Burns Supper at The Printing Press

Addressing the Haggis

You’ll probably not be surprised to hear that I got myself a whole heap of Burns Suppers (inadvertently) arranged this year – four in total, two of them on the same day – the 25th January, the traditional day for celebrating Scotland’s National Bard Robert “Rabbie’ Burns.

Thankfully however, as guests of The Printing Press (what used to be Tempus on George Street), we were able to choose from the menu as well as the special of the traditional Haggis, neeps & tatties.

Without realising it, I upheld my ‘steak girl’ nickname in style with double cow – a steak tartare (so rare to get this on a menu in Edinburgh and one of my favorites) followed by a steak with peppercorn sauce, all finished off with some cheese, oh and plenty of red wine.

A cracking evening with fellow bloggers and foodies, with all the ceremony of a Burns Supper, guests were piped in, as was the Haggis, and of course, it was properly addressed. A great atmosphere, great food and great company – such a treat. A big thank-you to all at The Printing Press for  a super celebratory night.
